This position is the primary resource for M&T alumni and promotes new and continued engagement of alums with the Program and university. The position is charged with strategic planning related to alumni engagement, career advising, and marketing communications for the Program. The Associate Director manages the M&T Alumni Interview committee through the Penn Alumni Interview Program as well as M&T Alumni Special Programs including: Alumni Mentorship, summer Intern Fellowship and Entrepreneurial Awards, monthly Roundtables, and any other student/alumni networking, relationship building, outreach, and event execution. The position is also responsible for M&T Alumni Special Events requiring regular contact with alumni groups, attendance at events (domestic and international), assisting alumni leaders with event marketing, promotion and implementation, and offering guidance and strategic planning for developing alumni groups. Other duties required include planning and executing annual M&T On-the-Road events, special events for M&T alumni during Homecoming and M&T Anniversary events, helping organize Executive and Leadership board meetings, recognizing alumni for their support, and managing the budget related to alumni events and outreach. In addition, the Associate Director works closely with the M&T Director of Integration in the planning and execution of the Integration Lab summit. This position manages marketing and branding initiatives including the ongoing website redesign project and social media strategies as they relate to alumni initiatives. This position reports to the Faculty Director and works closely with the Director of Integration, Administrative Director, M&T students, Penn Admissions, Development and Alumni Relations, Career Services, and Wharton External Affairs.


A Bachelor’s degree is required and 3 to 5 years of experience of relevant work experience within higher education and/or alumni relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Event planning experience a plus. Position requires initiative, strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills and enthusiasm are highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work independently with diverse groups and to balance multiple tasks simultaneously is required. Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities. Must possess intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, database management systems and basic accounting knowledge – training in the University of Pennsylvania systems is a plus (for example BEN FINANCIALS, IMODULES, CONCUR). Some evening and/or weekend work and travel required.
