Duties

The Lippincott Library of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania seeks a proactive, service-oriented individual for the position of Business Research Librarian. This position provides high-quality, customer-focused business information services to the Wharton School of Business and the larger University of Pennsylvania community. This position conducts research consultations; offers course-integrated instruction and workshops; supports the discovery, use, and management of text and data; raises awareness of resources and services through outreach efforts such as department-based office hours and social media; and creates and maintains research guides and other research support tools.DUTIES: * Work collaboratively with a team of librarians to deliver business information support services across all phases of research, teaching and learning using a range of technologies* Cultivates personal subject knowledge and skills through self-directed learning and vendor training, supported by team coaching and mentoring.* Design and teach specialized classes and workshops* Create and maintain guides to information resources and other digital learning objects.* Plan, direct and implement special projects involving library promotion and outreach activities* Participate in library planning and serve on library-wide committees and teams. * Participate in evening and weekend service schedules.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s Degree and 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.* Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. * Ability to establish effective relationships with diverse constituencies including faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students and staff. * Evidence of initiative, creativity and collaborative approach to past activities. * Demonstrated interest in business librarianship.* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collegially. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.* Familiarity with commercial business databases. * Understanding of basic business concepts and vocabulary. * 1-2 years of experience preferably in an academic or research library.Preferred:* Coursework, advanced training or degree in business, statistics, economics or a related subject.* Experience conducting library presentations or teaching in an academic environment.* Experience in a business-focused library or information service.* Experience or demonstrated interest in marketing and outreach to undergraduate or graduate students and facility with social media as an outreach and marketing tool
