The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is the oldest and one of the finest medical schools in the United States. Since its founding in 1765 the School has been a strong presence in the community and prides itself on educating the leaders of tomorrow in patient care, biomedical research, and medical education.


Positioned within the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy, the Course Coordinator is an integral member of the Online Educational Initiatives team, which works in an entrepreneurial and deadline-driven environment. The coordinator oversees course delivery for multiple, concurrent high-quality online courses for working health care professionals. These include courses in the Master of Health Care Innovation, a related professional development track, and continuing education in medical ethics.The Course Coordinator ensures a consistent student experience across all courses and provides critical perspective to the instructional designers. For each course, the coordinator oversees and supports TAs, and monitors and reports on issues of educational effectiveness. The position also coordinates administrative aspects of online course development and delivery. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1) monitoring and supporting student and TA activity in online courses; 2) coordinating and moderating faculty-student interactions; 3) coordinating the course evaluation process and reporting on course progress to staff and faculty; 4) contributing to the preparation of Canvas course sites and maintaining demo sites and offline documentation; 5) scheduling faculty interactions and related activities; and 6) basic multimedia, such as trimming video of recorded web conferences..


The minimum of a High School diploma and 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. College degree or coursework is a plus.Required* Demonstrated ability to make timely, independent decisions, based on guiding principles and relevant context* Reliable, strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and consistency* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, graduate students, working professional learners, and staff* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal* Demonstrated ability to design organizational solutions that work for everybody* Facility with Canvas or equivalent learning management systemsPreferred* Experience as an online learner and/or classroom teacher or teaching assistant preferred.* Basic multimedia skills, including familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, preferred.* Working knowledge of health care, public policy, entrepreneurship, or operations management preferred.
