The Applied Mathematics & Computational Science (AMCS) graduate group is an interschool and multi-departmental program. The Graduate Coordinator needs to work closely with faculty from a wide range of academic disciplines to ensure the smooth running of the program. Provide administrative support for the AMCS program pertaining to graduate students affairs, events management, graduate personnel matters, such as recruitment, and acting as main office representative for the AMCS program. The Graduate Coordinator also provides administrative support for the Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM) pertaining to personnel matters, purchasing supplies or subscriptions, and arranging travel. PWBM is a nonpartisan, research-based initiative that provides accurate, accessible and transparent economic analysis of public policy’s fiscal impact.
High School Diploma and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Experience providing administrative support in an academic environment preferred. Ideal candidate must possess strong organizational skills, strong written and oral communications skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Must have a professional demeanor with the ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse audience. Must be a team player and have excellent collaboration skills. Ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of scholarly resources across the University that are available for both students and department faculty. Financial experience, event planning experience, and an understanding of academic and curriculum planning are preferred. Familiarity with Penn’s financial application strongly encouraged. Experience with University graduate programs and policies strongly encouraged.
