Reports to Vice Dean in the School of Veterinary Medicine in coordination with the Division of Human Resources’ Manager of Talent Acquisition and Executive Recruitment and Executive Director of Compensation. Function as HR Generalist supporting the School of Veterinary Medicine. Serve as liaison to Central HR to communicate and advise staff on University HR policies and procedures.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:* Act as advisor to hiring officers in the development of long-term, strategic hiring plans. Handle recruitment activities which include: reviewing and processing requisitions, new job postings, reviewing applicants, interviewing process, and finalizing the hire of selected candidates. , handle OAA compliance for the hiring process.* Handle most aspects of job design, job classification and salary administration; coordinates reclassification/salary adjustment process, make recommendations. * Work with Compensation and hiring officers to set hiring salaries and negotiate offers with candidates* Manage on-boarding new staff and coordinate communication with Penn’s Benefits * Provide support to employees and managers on day-to-day HR issues, policies and procedures, such as Family Medical Leave/sick leave, Short-term Disability * Advise supervisors on the performance appraisal program. Handle regular system updates to reflect employee/supervisor changes. * Collaborate with Central HR regarding resources, training, projects including Human Capital Management (HCM) and provide support, communication and advice on Human Capital Management system implementation and upgrades as they relate to compensation and hiring processes* Manage review and approval of independent contractor status requests and serve as school point of contact with Central
A Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. SHRM certification preferred. Master’s degree, preferred.
