School/Center Overview

The Division of Finance is responsible for an array of centralized financial functions of the University. Our various departments are responsible for administrative services that support financial accounting and disbursement activities, research administration, external and internal investments, cash and debt management, risk management and student registration and financial aid. http://www.finance.upenn.edu/default.asp

Duties

Under limited supervision, provide primary/1st tier desktop support for various departments of the Division of Finance (including Student Registration and Financial Services) as well as the offices of the Executive Vice President, Investments, and Budget Management and Analysis, including installing, configuring and supporting PC hardware and software. Handle broad areas of computing and technology; support the use of Internet technology for financial systems; advise and assist users in the planning, selection and use of computing hardware and software; evaluate systems for hardware and software and recommend disaster recovery procedures; work directly with members of IT support team on a wide range of troubleshooting issues. Work with colleagues across the University and with local support providers in other departments to adopt and implement computing standards; evaluate and recommend future technologies to integrate into existing PC platforms; document and communicate recommended computing standards, support practices and policies. Must maintain the confidentiality of sensitive data. Maintain expert knowledge of Penn’s support information systems and computing technologies. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree and 0 year to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 2+ years of experience are preferred and Microsoft certification is a plus. Experience with increasing responsibility for supporting Windows desktop systems and software. Experience in an academic computing environment preferred. Ability to successfully manage multiple and competing priorities. Strong customer service orientation and a demonstrated ability to work with colleagues at all levels, including executives. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
