Duties

Conduct fundamental research in advanced and currently rapidly evolving areas such as image analysis, analytics, machine leaming, computer vision, and deep learning as related to goals of the section and help with raising research funds and preparing grant proposals submitted by the section. This includes developing new concepts, algorithms, methods, and tools to address image analysis problems encountered in various medical applications such as cancer, orthopedics, radiation treatment, and surgery. Help junior members of the section at the master’s, PhD, and post-doctoral level with scientific guidance and instructions on their assigned projects in translating larger goals into implementations. Direct assembling scientific resources developed by the group including software, data sets, etc. and manage their maintenance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: A PhD in Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering/ Bio-Medical Engineering/ Medical Physics with 5-7 years of experience in advanced medical image processing and analysis techniques including image segmentation, registration, and machine learning (particularly deep learning strategies); demonstrated ability to formulate conceptual solutions and their implementation to translate a given medical imaging application problem into an executable method of solution; 5-7 years of experience with software development (C, C++, Python, Linux, Windows, MATLAB, ShellScript); familiarity with TensorFlow tools for deep learning; familiarity with basic image processing operations such as interpolation, filtering, etc.; experience in statistical analysis of results.Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with medical imaging principles underlying CT, MRI, dynamic MRI, and PET/CT; familiarity with 3D visualization principles; understanding of model-based strategies for medical image analysis, particularly those related to Automatic Anatomy Recognition techniques; experience with diverse medical imaging applications such as cancer, pediatric orthopedics, and obesity; familiarity with the use of and progrannning in the image analysis and visualization software CAVASS.
