Research at GTP requires knowledge of multiple scientific disciplines including molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry, virology, immunology, bioinformatics, and biotechnology. Our major goals are to increase scientific knowledge in gene therapy field through the use of experiments, and help develop new life-saving treatments. Research performed at GTP ranges from basic research to development of platform technologies to development of the vector manufacturing methods to conducting pre-clinical research. Our research is carried out using cell and animal models.Research Specialist will be involved in planning, conducting and analyzing experiments aimed at development of new gene therapy methods & applications. Research Specialist will provide technical support to enable our laboratory to function effectively and will adhere to standard procedures and guidelines. May perform sample collections, testing, measuring, recording and analyzing of results. Research Specialist will carry out experiments under the management of a supervising scientist to allow senior scientific personnel to concentrate on the more complex analytical processes in the laboratory.RSB: In addition to the above, Research Specialist B is expected to keep abreast of the work of other scientists within GTP and in the wider scientific community. Research Specialist B is expected to keep up to date with external research carried out in their field of study. The Research Specialist B will be involved in experimental design and standard protocol development; perform initial data assessment.RSA Duties:-Perform assigned laboratory experiments-Generate reliable data in support of assigned projects-Carry out routine tasks-Follow standard experimental protocols-Collect, prepare, and analyze specimens and samples-Keep detailed experimental records-Follow strict safety rules-Train other members of staff-Operate standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, plate readers, and pH meters-Participate in the up-keep of the laboratoryRSB Duties:Same as above and including:-Independently design, and perform assigned experiments, develop standard protocols-Generate reliable data-Process and analyze results and data, perform calculations, initial data assessment, and create graphs/figures for data presentations and publications-Work with multidisciplinary teams across multiple functionsPosition is contingent on continued funding.
Research Specialist A: B.A./B.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or in adjacent field and 0 to 1 year of post degree bench laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Scientific background; working knowledge of commonplace molecular and cell biology techniques (molecular cloning, biochemical and cell based assays, animal); ability to learn new techniques; ability to follow existing protocols; ability to develop novel protocols and methods; outstanding interpersonal interaction skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, problem recognition and solving, and organizational skills. Prior experience in the field of gene therapy is desirable.Research Specialist B: Same as above with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
