The recently established Penn Cardiac Electrophysiology Translational Center of Excellence (EP-TCE) is recruiting a Research Specialist to support ongoing clinical and translational research studies relating to cardiac arrhythmias. This venture provides new resources and pathways for our team to rapidly move innovative translational research discoveries into clinical practice. The Research Specialist will be actively involved in the organization, execution, data collection/analysis, and other administrative activities for translational/experimental investigations as well as clinical research trials at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.The Research Specialist will be the primary coordinator for multiple clinical and translational research studies with duties including, but not limited to:1.Assist with writing standard laboratory/research operations documentation; recommend improvements for operations; assist with setting up laboratory-related aspects of new research studies; perform inventory analysis, supply purchasing, and other tasks as needed. Maintain logs, laboratory reports and regulatory documents.2. Research laboratory setup; coordination of studies; assist during large animal electrophysiology experiments; specimen collection; tissue processing/histology; data analysis.3. Assist with clinical research study screening; clinical study data collection; coordination of study related activities.4. Assist Research Team with various research-related administrative, clerical, and other duties as assigned.Highly motivated individuals will have the opportunity to expand his/her research portfolio by co-authorship of scientific manuscripts and will be encouraged to participate in educational/research conferences across the Cardiovascular Division and Cardiac Electrophysiology Program. The Research Specialist will work closely with several members of the Penn EP faculty and will report to the Director of the Translational Electrophysiology Laboratory.Position is contingent on continued funding.
A Bachelor’s Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Strong organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently are required. Previous experience with data collection, computer programming, and statistical analysis is preferred, but notnecessary.
