The Simpkins Laboratory in the Ovarian Cancer Research Center is looking for a Research Specialist to join our Ovarian Cancer Patient-Derived Xenograft (PDX) team. Our goal is to identify novel therapies in the lab and bring them to the clinic for the treatment of ovarian cancer. The RS should have extensive mouse handling experience. Will be required to assist in managing mouse colony, caring for mice, performing surgical procedures including: orthotopic transplant of human tumors in mice ovaries (training will be provided), drug administration vial oral gavage, abdominal palpation, measuring tumors via ultrasound (training will be provided), ad performing necropsies to biobank tumors (training will be provided).
Research Specialist B: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must have experience working with mice and in a rodent barrier facility. Occasionally may have to work on weekends and evenings as project needs require., flexibility of hours is required. Should be organized, detailed-oriented, and a team player.Research Specialist C: Same as Research Specialist B but has a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Should have more extensive technical experience performing ultrasound, growing primary tumor cultures, performing orthotopic implant of cancer cell lines into mice, and molecular bench techniques.
